How did you get started in the world of silversmithing?

Metalsmithing is quite literally in my blood. I have family that work in traditional Native silver methods, and the work with precious metal and stones is something that has long called me to take part in creation. I began my formal training with a master goldsmith in 2021, and continue to grow in the various techniques through practice and education.

Can you share some examples of your previous silverwork or projects you're particularly proud of?

The pieces I make while I’m in creative flow are my favorites. I’m blessed to be asked to create intuitively with customs. The clients I work with often choose a stone with its properties in mind, and the stone often speaks to how it wants to be set in silver.

What tools and equipment do you consider essential for your silversmithing work?

My favorite tool has always been and will always be my torch. Metalsmithing uses so many wonderful tools, but the ancient alchemy of using fire to melt and bond metal is truly breathtaking.

Have you ever felt a spiritual connection to the silver or the process of silversmithing? What does it mean to you on a deeper level?

As long as we have record of humanity, we see that humans have worn precious metals to symbolize strength and protection. Our current practice of wearing jewelry has been derived from ancient practice of using amulets and talismans.

When you think about it, every piece of jewelry you wear has some special significance, and each day you wear them you are reminded of a feeling or a bond.

The process of alchemizing those feelings and bonds into a unique piece is a rewarding process we can’t wait for you to experience here at GILDED.

Do you find inspiration from spiritual or metaphysical themes when designing your silver jewelry?

Inspiration for my silver jewelry often comes to me in moments of knowing what the collective need is. I draw inspiration from the ancient practice of wearing a piece that symbolizes that need, whether it be to represent connection or just recognition of the magick inside us all.
